Sam & Dan’s Pelican Waters Golf Club Wedding

S&D Pelican Waters Gold Club Wedding

For me waiting for a wedding day can feel like it’s taking absolute……. a.g.e.s….. for the date to come around!  Especially when I really like a couple as much as I do Sam and Dan!  It’s a real blessing to have people who start out as clients and end up friends!  It’s one of the things I love about photographing weddings.  We have so many opportunities for time to get to know each other prior to their day that I can’t help but be excited by the time the day comes around.  I literally am watching the weather forecast for weeks prior, trying not to bite my nails behind the scenes, praying for a beautiful day for the couple.  This crazy behaviour is probably above and beyond the call of wedding photographer duties…. but I can’t help it.  I’m going to be living almost every moment of their day with them…. and I genuinely want each and every wedding day to be perfect in every way for our Wild Whimsy brides.

Sam and Dan’s wedding was no different!  Sam and I meet way back at the beginning of last year at the Hinterland Wedding Expo in Maleny… and finally their day had arrived!  I meet Daniel at their engagement session and I could see straight away how beautiful they were together.  So on the morning of the wedding day, during a time of year when it’s usual for cool and clear autumn weather  we were expecting an almost summer kind of day!  It was warm and humid and showers were predicted but this wedding was at Pelican Waters on the “Sunshine” Coast so it just had to be sunshine all round!  Well…. at least…. above the clouds and every now and then it was!!

Sam was surrounded by her favourite girls, and the atmosphere in the bridal suite was of calm anticipation.  The finishing touches were being added to speeches, nails polished and touched up, and happy smiles as the hair and make up ladies did their magic.

The boys were a whole other story …. chilling out in the grooms den!  It’s just the way it is!  Ironing the shirts had been overlooked but apart from that they were on top of getting Dan to the altar on time.

Paula, the celebrant and the staff at Pelican Waters Golf Club did a gorgeous job of directing the guests from the outdoor ceremony location to the under cover location when the showers of rain arrived right on Ceremony time!  They also did an equally calm job of moving the ceremony back into position when the rain stopped 20 minutes later!  Sam could arrive now….. and make the beautiful entrance she had dreamt about!  It was worth the wait!  I’m sure everyone agreed.

Sam & Dan and their parents did a special butterfly release during their ceremony.  It was a lovely surprise for the guests.   Dan couldn’t get the big grin off his face!  It really was priceless!

Almost as soon as the ceremony was down another passing shower arrived and what amazed me most was everyone just went with the flow.  It was such a testament to how calm Sam and Dan were during it all.  When “Love” is in the air it really is a magical thing.

Sam & Dan thanks for having me by your side, and for the spontaneous fun along the way!  It was a beautiful day.  Big hugs to you both.
