Aaron and Kate’s wedding day was a genuine reflection of them. It was ‘go with the flow’, ‘we can wing it’ relaxed and down to earth. I just loved how that is the story of them too. As an animal loving couple with country in their veins their perfect venue was Kilcoy Farm Stay… just a few kilometres along the Esk-Kilcoy Road.

With the homestead built in the 1800’s having gone through a major renovation recently and out buildings, cattle yards and the old dairy equally as old I was completely in my element. I love a good smattering of obvious history. If those fences could talk they’d be sure to tell a 100+ years of good old country yarns. All we need is the camp fire and time to listen!
I just knew I had to feature those in the ‘details’ photos for Aaron and Kate.

Kate… if she could…. should bottle up her calmness and sell a bottle to every bride for their wedding day. There was simply no fluster or flurry! Relaxed chatter surrounded by her best girls and close family made for the perfect getting ready environment in the lodge. Kate and Aaron’s little girl Alice toddled about entertaining us all with her big wide eyes as she took in all the activity. Emma did a gorgeous job of the girls make up. It was just the right amount of natural!
Meanwhile, over in the homestead the boys were chillin’, after they had finished busying themselves with the finishing touches to the reception and ceremony set up.
Out the back the four legged equine family members were also in preparation mode for their special part of the day too.

Their “First Look” moment was breathtakingly private… and I can wholeheartedly guarantee it didn’t spoil the look on Aaron’s face as Kate walked down the aisle. I saw a tear or two being shed, I promise! Go…. the “First Look” even if it is only for time to breathe together before all the guests swamp you!!

Jo from Big Love Weddings conducted the short and sweet ceremony with just the right amount of personal touches! I loved how Alice brought the rings to them with the assistance of the Grandma’s.

During the family formals the relaxed atmosphere left room for natural fun photos…. that I think are so much nicer than those posed and poised shots.

We then whiled away the afternoon, through to an awesome Kilcoy sunset, in the gorgeous paddocks overlooking the spectacular countryside surrounding Somerset dam with ‘Secret’ and ‘Reefa’ making for wedding portraits that will forever be uniquely Aaron and Kate.

Their announcement to the reception just after sunset was followed by their first dance and a gorgeous father daughter dance.
Later Kate’s Dad joined the live music duo with a special song or two for Kate & Alice much to everyone’s delight!
Kate’s Mum made the awesome desserts and Aaron’s sister styled up a very tempting and popular lolly bar.
The guests lounged away the evening on colourful covered ‘lounges’ made from hay bales as the stars twinkled above the celebrations.

Thank you Aaron and Kate for inviting me to tell your wedding day story for you!
joyfully
